Okay, it's been more than two weeks from my last post. Guess why? Virus and germs are busy visiting. It started with Jake, then Jonah and then Jake again. Of course, Gloria and I also got our turns. I realized it's always around this time of the year that we all get sick. Last year, it was February and March. And this year, it's March and April!!! No worries, I'll remember you guys. We are getting better and hopefully, we can all be healthy departing. Yes, we will be leaving next week to Hong Kong (tomorrow!!!). I can't wait to have vacation with my family, no need to worry about work, and only to meet my family and friends. Oh and of course, with lots of yummy food and interesting shops!!!
After Easter, it was Ching Ming and traditionally, we should visit our ancestors. It's such a big day that we used to have a day off when we were in HK. Here in Canada, we have no day off. But since I'm kinda traditional, and I miss Mom always, I went there for a visit by myself. She's still underneath and she's still in my heart - nothing changed. Except, the flowers got sunk down a bit after the winter. We used to go have a hike in HK with Hung Kau Fu and family (when I was still a kid of course). It's always fun walking up. When we were still very young, we had to stay slow with the adults and later on, we were old enough to go ahead of them. I still remember racing up to the top with Fian, Gary and Kit (my cousins). Oh, and our bamboo fight, hahaha. Having lunch together is more of the highlight to me than visiting someone I have never met. Not sure how I should teach Jake and Jonah to pay respect to our ancestors. I guess I always have God to back me up.
I've hurt my right toe last week during soccer. My whole nail just broke! Yup, it hurts and it's gross, especially when I first took off my shoes...so no more soccer for a few weeks I guess which is fine as I'm away anyways. So yea, back to our HK trip, I'm still not packed yet. And it's always so stressful packing somehow. I don't know, it's not like packing to the hospital before having a baby that you can always ask your husband to get whatever you forget to the hospital but I mean, flying so far away not having that chance of forgetting anything - I guess that's what stressing me out, hahaha.
Jake's birthday is coming up soon (April 26). Actually we will first celebrate that on the plane back to HK! Maybe I should ask the captain to sing him a birthday song, hahaha. As per his request, he wants a party both here and there in HK, hahaha. So Gloria and I threw him a little party last weekend. Nothing much, just invited a few other kids over for a cake cutting evening with some games, haha. This year, we did everything ourselves!!! That's right, from decorations to games and from little presents to the cake, hahaha. It's so much fun even though it's kinda tiring sometimes. I realized that my hands are actually not bad, hahaha. Hope you liked your little batman party!!! At least I had fun, hahaha.
Thank God for Jake. I can't believe it's already been four years! And I'm sure I'll keep repeating myself every year, haha. But it's so true. He's no longer my baby Jake. He's now a big brother of Jonah, very loving and caring. But he still likes his cars, being silly and to have fun all the time. I have to say, he's becoming better and better. Of course, his EQ is still under construction but even mine isn't done yet, hahaha. You will have all my patience Jake! Happy birthday baby, love u always!
Btw, this is by Grandma's angle cake, hahaha!!!
Yes, it's not Mother's day yet but I saw a lot of Mother's day card when I was trying to get a thank you card for Gloria last week. There wouldn't be anymore card to buy for myself from now on. Of course I miss buying cards for Mom but I'm okay. Thinking back, she was still having fun doing her chemo during Mother's day in HK last year, which means I wasn't there with her. And her birthday is usually around that time (May 16) which also means I missed her birthday last year, or yes, her last birthday. Jake and I came back just before those two days. So the last Mother's day and birthday celebration I had with her needs to go back to 2011. Honestly, I don't remember much. Let me go check...be right back
You know why I don't remember much about it? It's cuz I also missed it in 2011. I came back myself after three weeks in HK but Gloria and the boys stayed for another month. That's right, I'm the only one she missed on that Mother's day. Luckily, we get to celebrate her birthday that year! This was taken during our celebration dinner at Canton Road!!!
And that also mean the last Mother's day celebrations had with Mom needs to go back one more year. This time I do have the memory, at least I know Jake just turned one in 2010 May and I brought him down to the Cantonese service to greet Grandma. I said one line and he followed: "太婆婆"..."母親節"..."快樂"..."bye bye" before we headed back out. Told you this guy started using his tongue to communicate pretty early, hahaha. Anyways, Mom, happy mother's day and happy birthday in advance!!! See you when we come back.
I will keep writing my blog when I'm in HK. Our prayers is always with whoever that seeks, no matter if you are in Boston, in Africa, China, or at home here in Canada. Media and technology is just making the world so so easy to spread anything you want to spread, including false information. Milk is not good for you is a good one that I have come across lately (again). I guess what I want to say is, no matter what information we receive, just don't be too gullible and believe everything without digesting it. And the worst thing is helping to spread it out even BEFORE we have it digested. Yes, we can agree on disagreement but I don't think spreading something you don't even know if it's right is a good idea, if you know what I mean.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways submit Him and He will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6

Happy Birthday Jake! from the pictures, I can tell that he was having a happy and fun party in Toronto, I am sure that he will have another happy and fun party in Hong Kong.
