It's been a while again as summer is always busy. The last time I wrote, we were preparing our first ever family camping. And now all of a sudden, it's August and it was actually a bit cold last weekend which reminds all of us that the summer is almost over, hahaha. Yesterday was August 7th and was my birthday. For those who know my age, please don't hesitate to tell everyone that I'm 18. If you don't know my age, now you know, hahaha. It's not the age that counts, it's the look, hahaha. Ok, no more topic related to age.
Camping was fun. The boys had so much fun, especially Jake who likes anything outdoor: making a mess and falling onto the muddy ground are just part of his life. He can just fall and stay on the ground like the dirty ground is his girlfriend or something. However, the first day was quite an experience. It was the thunderstorm/tornado day after a whole week of stuffy, humid and hot weather if you still remember. Good thing we went there earlier and were (or was cuz' it was all done by myself anyways, haha) able to set up the tent before we got hammered. While I was setting up the tent, Gloria and the boys were unloading. But the wind was picking up really fast and the sky just turned so dark that I had to make them stay inside the car. The tent was set up just in time but Wilson was struggling, haha (we went with the Lau's). So I got just a bit wet helping them. The wind was just so strong that the tree just kept falling in front of us blocking the roads. Being an experienced (but rusty) boy scout for numerous years, I was smart enough to make Gloria and the boys stay in the car (so just in case, if anything, we can just leave abandoning Simon's tent, hahaha). Yes, thanks Simon for lending us your tent. We could've used our own but it might be a little too tight hahaha cuz' now the two dogs somehow become two little guys, hahaha. Oh, our tent is with one big and one small tents that are connecting each other. Due to the thunderstorm and humid weather, the mosquito out numbered us easy and they were hungry!!! Somehow I'm just too attractive not only to human, but these blood suckers and yes, I suffered a lot. I guess it's not a bad thing cuz' Gloria and the boys were all good, haha.
To Gloria and myself, being able to get stuck in the tent as a family was the sweetest as we got to share about everything spending quality time together. It was so precious. The boys shared with us about what they liked the most and least and we got to pray together. A light and easy version of a family devotion. Jakie's highlight was the camp fire and Jonah's was the marshmallow, haha. Thank God for keeping us safe and what an experience for the boys!!!
Now back to my birthday. This day is always my "PMS" day of the year which means I'll be super sensitive, grumpy and emotional. I'm sure some of you have experienced it before with me, especially my closest ones like Gloria, Fian, Ka Yee, etc. etc., hahaha. I have to say, I'm getting better and better while I'm growing younger each year. Not sure if I'm finally getting mature or if it's the boys who bumped myself way below I used to be, I'm getting less grumpy. One thing for sure was that I miss Mom especially much on my birthday. As mentioned on my Facebook, my birthday is the day when I want to call Mom the first thing (yes, when the clock turns from 2359 to 0000), just to say "thank you". Thank her for giving birth to me, thank her for going through so much pain, just to "get rid of" me from her tummy. I believe it took her almost a day before I finally came out thru C Section (after failing to come out naturally, hahaha). Starting from this year, this routine has to be modified a little. Instead of thank her, I will thank God. Thank God for taking her, thank God for all His love and thank God for giving us so so much. He even reminded us his promise through the little rainbow which everyone is posting on Facebook today, haha. God is good all the time once again.
" I thank my God every time I remember you." (Philippians 1:3)
"我每逢想到你(們),就感謝我的神" (腓立比書 1:3)
So, I had a great time with my family and friends!!! The sweetest thing was Jonah came to me and said, "Happy Birthday Daddy" with his cutest look, hehehe.
Sometimes, it's very cute how everything links back to Mom. For example, Nicky from church asked me for the parking permit form a few weeks back. So it did a search for "parking" and somehow an email from Mom popped up cuz' I mentioned parking behind my Grandma's apartment. It wasn't a very great feeling reading that email again because Mom and I had a fight (again) over the phone and she had to hang up and write me a email instead. And because of that, it lead me back to one of my favorite albums that I didn't get a chance to share before on Facebook (but I shared some of them in this blog). That was our last family photo session with her before Mom needed to be admitted back to the hospital last October.

Love you always
Mom
Mom and I are very alike, we can't be wrongly blamed without saying a word or doing a thing. We would totally stand up for ourselves until the matter is back to "fair" in our eyes. Yes, it is not a bad thing, only if we know how to handle it smoothly but in reality, we may hurt "a few" people just to achieve that. And I'm sure you know what I mean. I'm still learning how to control my emotion and how not to lose my temper. It's not easy but if Mom could do it, I know I can also do it. Speaking about losing temper, this actually leads to the hottest topic now in HK regarding a teacher who swore in public. I'll share my views a little later, maybe next time.
After re-reading the email, the content is no longer important. Whatever happened doesn't matter anymore. I only miss her and I only felt sorry for raising my voice and losing my temper on her that time. If you are reading this and if you still have parents or someone you love, try remembering this sharing of mine. Sometimes it's hard to get blame wrongly, and I'm sure I'll keep repeating my mistakes but yet, it's okay to lose a battle to your love ones once in a while. No, it's so worth it even losing ALL BATTLES to them. This is never too late. I was very sad for a good two days after that. Yes, I feel very bad but Mom knows how much I love her no matter how bad I treated her. I guess sometimes, love hurts. The more you care and love a person, the easier you'll get hurt by him/her or the worse you could get hurt by him/her. On the other hand, you won't get hurt by someone you don't really care/love!
Okay back to something lighter. Lately, I've been in love with the minions. Well, I have been in love with them since the first Despicable Me movie but McDonald's has a series of eight minion happy meal toys that got everyone hunt after them. Thanks to Gloria, she spoiled me with three off the bat (as she came across four different McDonald's on her way to work each day) and we got the rest within a week, hahaha. Even the boys are in love with them, especially Jonah!!!
Daddy is doing well and was quite busy lately. I guess summer is the main part of the reason. With the boys having no school, he would be busy driving them around for programs, playing soccer with them, taking care of his lawn, making soups for us, going skating lessons with Jakie, having short trips with his visiting friends, helping out at church and VBC, celebrating my birthday, hanging out with Gloria's cousins and family, etc. Of course he's always busy working out every day (he would update us his weight every evening before dinner, hahaha). God is good all the time!
I maybe getting older, but I'm getting wiser. My body maybe getting weaker, but my faith is getting stronger.
"but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary. they will walk and not be faint." (Isaiah 40:31)
"但那些仰望耶和華的人,必重新得力;他們必像鷹一樣展翅上騰;他們奔跑,也不困倦,他們行走,也不疲乏。" (以 賽 亞 書 40:31)
