Sorry to those who are looking for Mom's updates regularly. With two little boys full of energy who love to keep Gloria and I busy whenever they are up, weekends are always hard to do our own things, including updating the blog. But no worries, other than Dad, God is also staying with Mom 24/7!!!
20121101 Friday - Not too excited to hear that Mom got transferred to a double room today. So, Dad had to leave her alone and sleepover at Carly's. We no longer can talk loud, listen to the radio, visit her late at night, etc. Mom was kinda sad saying that it's her first night by herself here in Canada. Dad and I both felt kinda bad but we know that God will take care of this stubborn 'girl'. It's also a good sign telling us that she's more stable.
I went visit them late again after fellowship. Mom asked me not to go down next time if it's late but I had to just to pick up stuff for dad cuz' of the room arrangement. Thanks to Fian, we found the Korean show Mom has been following, so she can watch it anytime. That means she's energetic enough! Thank God. That also means that I'll need to keep downloading, hahaha. Didn't want to disturb our neighbour too much, I didn't stay long. We didn't talk much either tonight. Mom only said, "I love you." but that's more than enough. I dropped Dad off at Carly's and left. Looking the back of Dad walking towards the condo entrance reminds me of that famous Chinese literature ('背影 Back Shadow'). Although, Dad wasn't trying to climb across the train tracks, nor trying to get me anything, this back tells me that my shoulders need to be ready. My focus is always my kids, my wife, my friends, my church, my work, my 'me me me' but I know I'm ready. My shoulders will always have enough space for my old folks.
Thanks for the surprise visit Jeffrey (and Alvina), it took Dad three meals to finish your dim sums, hahaha. Thanks also for the card; it's very sweet of you guys.
20121103 Saturday - God is good again. Mom got moved back to a single room! Dad told me the news first thing in the morning when I called. He was too busy to explain much. I was a bit worried to be honest but it's all good. He joked after, "The nurses need me to stay overnight, they must be scared from how many times they needed to help Mom pee after just one night!", hahaha. Thanks to the nurses on 15B (I'm sure you guys have done a lot to make such arrangement happen). Thank God for letting this happen, at least Dad had a real good night sleep for one night before getting back to "work", hahaha.
My whole family went visit today but the boys were napping, so Gloria and I needed to take turns going up. Gloria went up first to cut Mom's hair. I really think she can soon become professional, thanks B. Then I went up after. The room was a bit smaller than the first one and it's further down the hallway with the same view. Her bed is facing south though, the sun is bothering her a little in the late evening. I need to be a little creative here. Probably need some big size paper to stick on the windows. She was busy watching the Korean show and eating at the same time (sorry Mom, got you in the picture). Jake woke up early enough to say hi to Mom before we left. Thank God for everything, we got to even shop and have dinner at Eaton Center after!
20121104 Sunday - Mom called us after church and was looking for dumpling noodles. I was planning to go myself at night but I guess she wanted it sooner. So, we went pick up the soup of the day (thanks Auntie Shirley) and head down as a family once again. This time, we bought enough for all six of us. That's right, the three generations were having dinner together all in her private room! God is amazing isn't it? We had to keep the stay short cuz' Jake is coughing a little. Poor guy kept getting my stares whenever he coughed, hahaha (Sorry Jake, Daddy just doesn't want Grandma to get sick!). Jake and Jonah had so much fun down there. It wasn't easy to feed kids when they could move freely for sure. Uncle Ed and Carly/Tyler came at a different time. Mom got to Facetime with her Cell Group too. So, it was quite busy in general.
Dad showed me the recliner the nurses offered him the night before. It looks more like a dentist chair (sorry, no pictures this time). He didn't like it a lot so the nurses gave him back his "bed", yes his sofa bed is back in Mom's room just for Dad. Told you God is around 24/7!!!
My Dropbox link I sent to Mom was not working. Will need to do it some other ways. No worries, I will find a way to keep her entertained. Please continue to pray for Mom's response to her chemo treatment. Pray that she can be healed by His hands. I haven't checked with Carly regarding the plan but God knows the plan more than the doctors. It's Your call God. Thank you.
"We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body." (1 Corinthians 4:8-10)
Dear Haven, my son,
ReplyDeleteThe bible verse should be from 2 Corinthians.
I am proud of having you getting all these informations in your updates. You can remind me what had happened and what items we should pray to our Lord. Some of my friends just called me this morning for your blog. They seem used to reading your messages, sometimes humorous, sometimes touching, very impressive. Thank you!
I had the same feeling when I looked at your Grandpa's back years ago. As time goes by, we are getting older and the time we can be together becomes shortened. Thus, we have to treasure every moment and, of course, count our blessings. God is good all the time.
God is listening, as always! May His mercy and healing continue to be with our beloved sister Irene. Will continue my prayers, of course.
