According to Carly, Dr. Shaheen believes that Mom does have TRALI (transfusion related acute lung injury) leading to ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome) after looking at her CT scans and X-ray. Mom has won another battle cuz' that's part of His plan. Please continue to pray for her lungs.
20121031 Wednesday - After experiencing God's miracle the night before, everyone seems to be able to start breathing normally again, not Mom though. Her oxygen level was set higher (6-7) but she definitely feels much better than yesterday. She even asked for congee. So Dad bought her some in the afternoon but she only had a little. It looks like her internal wounds is still blocking. Pray that she can start eating normal soon.
Carly left the pathology report from HK to Dr. Shaheen (thanks Fian). They all think that Mom has shown them how strong and stubborn she is! Her platelets are amazing today: 65 (30 is too low and a healthy person should be at around 200-400 easy)! Thank God that they found a platelet donor who was specifically matched to Mom, and she seems to be responding to this! This means that we don't need to be worried about her blood pressure as much anymore. Yesterday, she had very high blood pressure and very low platelets: this increases the risk for bleeding in the brain. God didn't let that happen and Carly was thrilled that her platelets are improving! I really want to thank this blood donors in person. The donor actually came donated more! God is just amazing...
20121101 Thursday - Dad called me right after lunch time. Honestly, I was scared a little bit but he passed the phone to Mom and guess what she said, "I want CRAB!!!". I almost cried hearing that, thank God. Although I was so busy at work, I managed to squeeze out half an hour to get her crab from TNT. Gloria steamed it and we prepared her Chaozhou style cold crab!!! Dad, of course, removed all the shells and fed her the meat. Mom had only a little but it's all good.
On top of that, Uncle Ed and Auntie Tiana brought them some dessert too. So we had a nice little party at night with her last night. Mom was still tired most of the time but still tried to stay up just to join our conversation. Maybe we were too excited, we didn't leave until after 11pm. Probably shouldn't bug her this long as I know she's exhausted. Her oxygen level is at 5 today which hopefully means that her lungs are improving.
Wilson also offered to deliver lunch to Dad whenever he's not busy (which means everyday, hahaha - thanks Wil). He even sent Dad the menu from the place he planned to get lunch for him. Dad couldn't wait, he took Carly out for dinner at the place tonight, hahaha. Nice to know that he's enjoying the company with my little cousin. Thinking back, it's been more than 20 years when they get to spend time alone (when Carly was five? Dad took her to his school trip if my memory is right). How sweet is that, hehehe. Thanks Carly.
I heard that they have been transferred to a double room. Even though it's not as nice with less privacy, which means Mom is not as critical as before. So, it's all good again. But I don't think Dad can stay overnight from now on. Pray that they can adapt to the new surrounding smoothly. Pray also that Mom is okay without the best "male nurse" on the floor. Dad will either stay in the rest room on the same floor with sofa at night or he'll need to bug Carly and Tyler. No matter what, I know God has everything planned out for them.
Please continue to pray for Mom's lungs, the response of her body to the chemo treatment and the bone marrow match for her blood transplant. God, she's in your hand, thank you.
When I see some snow falling this morning, I can't help but not to ask God to keep me as clean as snow, away from all sins. It's quiet and still, yet very pretty. Winter is around the corner and God is at every corner!!!
"Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place. Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice." (Psalm 51:6-8)
